The Gold Coast encompasses a 5000sq km region.  With its temperate climate and 70km of coastline, it is Australia's sixth largest city and has been one of the most fastest growing regions in Australia for more than four decades.  It has a population now reaching 507,439 and is experiencing a 3.7% average annual growth. It is estimated that the population will increase by over 762,523 by the year 2026. Increasingly, the city is establishing itself as a first choice for manufacturing, industrial and commercial businesses.

The annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show has reached its 18th year and is classified as a world class event in an equally prestigious resort environment.  There are now 400 exhibitors , employs 7,300 staff and generated sales of $A130 million.  Other events include the Off Shore Power Boat racing, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Surfing contests, the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, the Lexmark Indy 300, Gold Coast Marathon and world-class triathlon, golf, cycling, tennis, outrigger canoe, gridiron and equestrian events.  The Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre can house a multitude of national and international events and concerts.
